Light FX




Here are some examples of light effects as seen in some earlier screenshots. They are all done with an additive shader using vertex color and vertex alpha so there is no texture used at all. The upper ones show the vertex colors and the black and white ones show the vertex alpha.

Sorry about spamming your blog today. ;) You totally answered my question with this post. A week ago when I saw a few pics where you mentioned you got this affect with vertex colors only I set out on a mission to figure out how to do it. It turns out Blender doesn't support vertex alphas directly (only through Python scripting) and the Blender exporter doesn't support exporting vertex alphas. After some tinkering with Blender and the export script I came up with pretty much exactly what you posted here:
